Event Description:

reframe52’s ‘Tools for Keeping People at the Table’ explores the undeniable power of joy in the workplace. Joy isn’t just a feeling; it's a process, a connector, and a vehicle for driving meaningful change. In this interactive session, we draw from our Community & Belonging signature Graze & Grow series to (1) Identify what effective mindfulness and active listening look like in the workplace, (2) Describe ways to uplift and empower employees through an intersectional lens, and (3) Recognize the importance that joy and identity expression play in employee happiness, effectiveness, and retention. How do we uplift and empower employees via workplace culture and policies? How can we foster workplaces that honor diverse identity and cultural expressions? And how can we move beyond performative representation to a place of genuine, intentional value for- & inclusion of all employees? Through a combination of lecture, discussion-based activities and personal reflection, we aim to create a participatory space where all contributors can work through these questions together. Ultimately, our goal is to curate an intentional space for collaborative dialogue, enabling participants to feel more connected and inspired to commit to advancing workplace inclusion.

Speaker Bio: Beau (he/him) is a transmasculine person passionate about empowering LGBTQ+ populations through highlighting experiences of queer joy and resilience. He joined reframe52 as an educator and outreach consultant in July 2024, and is an intersectional scholar with a Master of Arts in Law, Justice, & Culture. Beau has a broad professional background: from rape crisis advocacy, public education, and community-building efforts, to event planning, business development, and music production. He’s spoken on a variety of panels to educate and share lived experiences as a trans* person, curated & facilitated a number of professional trainings for Cuyahoga County prosecutors and law enforcement officials (e.g., Rape Culture & Intersectionality, Supporting Male & Non-Binary Survivors of Sexual Violence), presented at the 2023 Southern Sociological Society (SSS) annual meeting, and has both coordinated- and performed at various community events in Northeast Ohio. Ultimately, Beau believes that queer existence is resistance and thus, serves as a reminder that we're all who we say we are, and that who we say we are is always more than enough.
