The Jefferson-Puritas West Park Community Development Corporation (formerly the Bellaire-Puritas Development Corporation) is seeking part-time, year-round Neighborhood and Senior Services Assistants. 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The type of neighborhood and senior services work includes (but is not limited to) lawn care, snow removal, and other seasonal outdoor work such as raking and gutter cleaning. It also includes doing minor home repair and indoor do-it-yourself/handyman projects for senior low-income senior homeowners and other qualified program recipients in the West Park neighborhoods of Cleveland. This position will also be responsible for neighborhood clean-ups on public property throughout the service area and will have other duties as assigned. There will also be an opportunity to supervise seasonal service workers and court community service. Experience maintaining and doing light repairs to small engines (snowblowers, weed whips, and lawnmowers) is helpful.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate company vehicle and powered equipment such as mowers, snowblowers & weed whips.

  • Mow or edge lawns of homes throughout West Park.

  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways or parking lots and spread salt

  • Complete basic indoor home repair work such as handrail installation, painting, and minor plumbing repairs.

  • General neighborhood clean-ups including litter, debris & brush removal.

  • Maintain inventory and equipment and keep in good repair. We especially welcome candidates that can maintain small engine equipment.

  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters or other grounds features on Jefferson-Puritas office building.

  • Assist with set up & tear down of events.

  • Assist with the supervision of summer seasonal crew or court community workers

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Landscaping and/or carpentry or “handyperson” experience

  • The ability to work independently

  • The ability to supervise a crew (experience preferred, not required)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

  • Valid drivers’ license and clean driving record

  • High school diploma or equivalent
