The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center exemplifies Case Western Reserve University’s commitment to serving its diverse student, staff, faculty, and alumni. The LGBT Center’s vision is to foster an empowering, loving, and equitable environment for our multifaceted community to thrive within CWRU. The LGBT Center’s mission is to provide support and advocacy to LGBT individuals within CWRU and provides a haven to those who are seeking solidarity and community. We educate the campus community about the complexity of human sexuality, gender and relationships through authentic dialogue. The LGBT Center is staffed by Director, Harry Hawkins and undergraduate and graduate student coordinators.
The LGBT Center staff welcome at the front desk, facilitate education programs and conversation groups, and offer advising and advocacy to the campus community. Outfitted with a TV, couch, chairs, ample desk space and more, the Center is a great place to relax, study, or gather to meet and enjoy the company of fellow students. Both informal gatherings and structured events are supported and encouraged. The Center offers a library stocked with books and periodicals, as well as, brochures and other resources pertaining to LGBTQIA topics. All LGBT Center staff members seek to aid those searching for information or support.
The space provides an inviting home to members of the LGBT and allied community interested in exploring and celebrating LGBTQIA identities. Beyond the student base, the LGBT Center also welcomes alumni, prospective students, staff and faculty, and community members
The LGBT Center is located at the heart of campus on the first floor of the Tinkham Veale University Center, situated as the first office entering through the Linsalata Entrance off Bellflower Road.
